A Simple Method to Estimate the In Situ Performance of Noise Barriers

Noise barriers are usually classified attending to their intrinsic acoustic characteristics. This is standardized by the European Standards EN 1793, parts 2 and 6, in which a single parameter, DLR or DLSI, defined order quantify sound insulation performance of noise barriers. However, final barrier, quantified so-called insertion loss, IL not only dependent on provided but it as well affected geometrical aspects characteristics environment where these noise-reducing devices placed. In this work, we explore relationship between loss means numerical methods. Moreover, authors propose simple way predict from purely simulation parameter obtained for completely rigid knowing barrier’s reduction index, one third octave bands.
